Description

  • Provide expert-level troubleshooting, diagnosis, and resolution for complex server infrastructure incidents and problems, spanning all support tiers from initial triage to deep-dive root cause analysis.

  • Lead critical incident response, problem management, and post-mortem analysis for significant server-related outages or performance degradations.

  • Collaborate closely with server teams across various locations to provide advanced technical guidance, knowledge transfer, and hands-on support for challenging operational issues.

  • Design, develop, and architect scalable, secure, and resilient server infrastructure solutions, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and industry best practices.

  • Define and evolve server infrastructure standards, policies, and operational procedures, promoting automation and efficiency.

  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement new server technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance performance, reliability, and security.

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge base articles, runbooks, and self-service documentation to empower server teams and reduce incident resolution times (Tier 0 support).

  • Conduct proactive analysis of server performance, capacity, and trends to identify potential issues and recommend strategic improvements.

  • Act as a technical escalation point and subject matter expert for server-related challenges, providing mentorship and guidance to less experienced team members.

  • Engage with external vendors for advanced support, product enhancements, and strategic technology partnerships.

  • Ensure all server infrastructure solutions comply with security, regulatory, and audit requirements.

  • Participate in on-call rotations or provide support during critical system events as required.

Work Experience

  • Administer large memory SMP systems with many cores and enterprise client-server configurations.

  • Work with and support multi-vendor file systems such as XFS, GPFS, and VXFS.

  • Provide support for fielded systems and blade systems, including their associated interconnects (SAD, FC, TCP/IP).

  • Maintain and troubleshoot RedHat and Microsoft Operating Systems, Microsoft Exchange, and Centrify solutions.

  • Support a comprehensive suite of infrastructure services, including DNS, NIS, Active Directory, Centrify, Zenoss, SiteScope, HP Openview, HPSA, HPSE, Splunk, Sendmail, Exchange, NetQos, and Infoblox.

  • Implement and support thin client solutions based on virtual bridges and Citrix, as well as NoMachine NX.

  • Manage and support virtualization products, specifically VMWare and Solaris containers.

  • Meet with vendors to evaluate and discuss new technologies.

  • Architect the integration of authorized new technologies into the existing environment.

  • Provide technical support during design phases, encompassing evaluation, government approval processes, and integration planning.
